Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

[2 Corinthians 9: 7]

Greek Orthodox stewardship is a “way of life” that involves the consistent, joyful, and intentional offering of one’s time, talent, and treasure to God and His Church. It is a response to Christ’s love and a method of supporting parish ministries, moving away from membership fees toward personal accountability and gratitude.

Core Components of Stewardship

  • Time & Talent: Active participation in the life of the church through volunteering and utilizing personal skills to support ministries.
  • Treasure: Financial contributions based on a, “what I can afford” approach (proportional giving) rather than a set membership fee. If circumstances change, your pledge can be amended.
  • “Attitude of Gratitude”: The mindset that all gifts (time, talent, treasure) are a loan from God, and stewardship is returning a portion to Him in thanksgiving.

Faith and Family

The church is a microcosm of society. It is a body composed of many bodies: Families united around the faith of the Fathers. And even as we are each called to make the faith a part of our family lives at home, so are we also called to bring the strength of love that we show our blood relations to the gathering of the Body of Christ each Sunday. This divine dance of love, where the strength that God gives us is then taken home, nurtured, and given back to the life of the community is the essence of the salvific work which each of us is called to undertake as individual Orthodox Christians. For all that we have is a gift from God. All that we offer is able to be used in His mission of grace and salvation so long as we carefully steward that which we have been given. And just as we would give our all for our family, and they for us, so are each of us obligated to give that which we may, and receive that which we must, for the greater glory of God and His Church. -Fr. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a member of the parish?

Our participation in the Orthodox Church begins at Baptism (Chrismation for some) and continues throughout our life. We are united with Christ through the mysteries of the Church and through our faithful offering of our entire selves to Jesus Christ. For this reason, our Archdiocese requires each parish to distinguish between voting members and non-voting members. A voting member is over 18 years of age, and submits a Pledge Card, committing a portion of time, talent and treasure to the Church. Keep in mind that this is only part of true membership in the Body of Christ, which involves living according to His word, within His holy Church.

Why should I commit to give a specific amount?

Your confidential commitment to support Christ’s Church will show the Priest and Parish Council what the faithful people of God have provided for the ministries of the Church in 2026, allowing them to better plan for the growth and ministries of our beloved parish family.

What if I am unable to fulfill my stewardship commitment?

During the course of a year, our circumstances may change. Our stewardship is valued by God because it is made out of love for Him and His Church. Please do not be concerned if you are unable to meet your stewardship commitment – we are thankful you are a part of this parish!
